Or somesuch . . . like . . . people who are more knowledgeable about particular things. A section that lists that. Like it'd list the mods, and then specific categories of things, i.e. "breeding, Sarnewfie, K9" cause they breed and they know whatsup. I don't know if unofficial/official experts want to be outed, but I just had the idea and wanted to share!

We've been discussing doing something like this, Sarah.  Just in the planning stages now.

Any suggestions on how to get this set up will be helpful!

I was rethinking this this a.m. and decided I don't like the idea anymore. Though I do think it's great if everyone says what they think they are experts at Cheesy

Well, Sarah's first suggestion is interesting. I would suggest the person(s) dubbed as "experts" "VIPs" etc. should be so named by general consensus of the members as well agreeing to be so named. Otherwise it would place a burden or expectation on somenone that said person might not appreciate.

We could have a section on our bio page of topics we think we are well informed of, then we could select those topics and members could create a thread or PM the other member for their thoughts and opinions. Maybe the topics could appear on avatar (I think that is what it's called--that think up at the top with a picture and posting info.)

The the thing I see with a list of "VIPs" is that we might end up with a group like the "other place" whose opinions are offered as eternal truth or venerated to the point that they think their poop don't stink. If a topic were started, let's say on snow cone machines, and Tallullah Belle was named a VIP on snow cones, I wonder if anyone would engage in discussion or offer their thoughts and opinions because Tallullah Belle, after all, is the expert.

All that aside......

I would be the expert on living with Cairns without having to take Ativan daily. snoopy

I PMed Sarah the same sentiment, though it wasn't nearly so eloquent.
