What is your internet connection? What is the speed?
Mine at my own place is cable and it is 5 meg. That is required for being a home agent. Too slow and you've got it dropping calls and downright unreliable.

I hate my sisters internet connection. It is supposed to be 1.5 meg and it is a wireless connection. It has some kind of antenna on the roof. It is really slow!(well for me anyways being used to my 5 meg speed)

I remember having dial up and I will never go back to that. You could fry an egg, mop the floor, take out the trash, etc while waiting for a page to load.

With all the media I run on my computer(watching television, downloading music/videos from Itunes, etc) it just isn't logical to have a slower connection.

My mom had an internet connection that was called T1 and that was really fast.

With cable you do share a network with everyone around you and with DSL it is your own space(so to speak)

I used to work at AOL so I worked with all these internet connections.

I love my cable. lol

So discuss internet here!

I have cable here - whatever the fastest Comcast has.

At work I do have T1.  It's OK but not as fast as my Comcast line.

I could never go back to a dial up connection.   pulling hair

I have Comcast cable (they bought out TimeWarner around here a few months ago). I used to have DSL but when I moved it was not an option (no cabling for that in my new neighborhood). Speed-wise, I see no difference between cable and DSL. Do not get me started on service.

I have cable, and I love it.  We had dial up for so long, my kids would not use my pc because it drove them nuts. But they do now.

we used to have the fastest one avail from TWC, but we down graded so I can get a DVR.  (Well that was the plan but DH took it over. typical male ....)

TWC is the only provider that service my area and since DH is a computer guy, dialup wasnt an option.

We have cable and it is paid for by work since I work from home. bouncy2
I hate dial up and my dad has it on his computer.  He can not download anything very fast and it is a pain.  I have wanted to send him pics and stuff and can't since his connection is too slow.  I have to download stuff to a CD and have him upload it on his system.  This weekend I am suppose to go over and do some loading on his computer.  I cannot convince him to get cable or DSL unless I want to pay for it.  I do not think so. no no

Dial-up, DSL, or wireless, all three. Depends on where I am.

It is nice to have internet, and I am glad for those who cannot get anything but dial up, can at least get dial up.
My sister is on dial up for budget reasons and it is driving her crazy, but she does have some kind of connection now.  For things she cannot get, she still uses mine.

There are a couple sites you can go to check your speed. The last time I checked my speed it was half of what I am paying for. It makes me mad. enraged

you can check your speed here

I don't know what our exact speed is, but I am spoiled by fiber optic internet at home. Page loading isn't much faster than cable, but downlading is lightning speed. Will have wireless initially at grandparents' place, but my dad says it stinks and I will probably need to get a cable for at home. Wireless at school. Will probably need to find local WiFi spots and become a patron for homework purposes.
