My two outlaws

« on: July 05, 2005, 10:02:28 PM »

We had a lady bring in a young puppy today, maybe 9-10 weeks old. She had seen the pup before at her neighbor's house. Today, she found her in the woods, doused in gasoline. The gas was burning (irritating) the pup's skin so badly she would just hollar and scream when you touched her. We had to get it off by bathing her and she screamed the whole time despite nearly 1.5 cc of valum (IV and IM). Also had to give her some activate charcoal in case she ingested any.

We had to basically knock her out tonight to keep her comfortable, not sure what they used for that. I just don't see what kind of scum bag would do this to any live creature, it is just horrible. Hopefully, she will make it through the night and get well soon. Please keep the little blonde puppy in your thoughts and prayers tonight Sad

I work tomorrow, so I'll keep ya'll updated.

I am heartsick for that defenseless puppy.   crying  Sadly, the miserable excuses for human beings that doused her with gasoline I'm sure had far worse plans for her.  It is truly distubing, the depths of depravity that some humans will stoop to....please keep us posted on that poor baby's progress.  She'll most definitely be in my thoughts and prayers.

This just sickens me.

Those A##hole people that do these things to animals are just cowards in real life and abusing an animal makes them feel better.

That's just awful.
Unbelievable.
Could you imagine even thinking that it would be an okay thing to pour gasoline on ANY living thing and then dumping it to fend for itself?

Any updates, Emily?

That poor puppy!!! Do you think the gasoline could have been someone's ignorant attempt to "cure" mange or fleas? There are areas in the US where petroleum products and turpentine are used as sort of folk-remedy "cure-alls" for animal ills.
We are all attributing the gasoline soaked pup to malice. Stupidity is much more prevalent than actual malice, and often much harder to deal with.

I sort of wondered the same thing...misguided treatment attempt.  I'd much rather it be that than to think that someone was preparing her for something much worse.  At any rate, my prayers and thoughts go out to the little pup.

That is what I'm hoping, and it wasn't done with cruel intent, but still, it is horrible.  I don't know how many people I've had to tell burnt motor oil and other petroleum products are *NOT* a cure for any kind of skin ailment!

At any rate, the pup was obviously feeling much better today! She wagged her tail when she saw us, but is very sensitve to being touched (who can blame her?) but she doesn't hurt anymore when we touch her. She ate as well.

The lady called and said she had told her dad about the pup and said he was going to "take care of it", so I don't know if that means he will adopt the pup, or confront the beasts that did this to her...

No news today, I was off work.  The pup was supposed to have gone home with the lady that brought her in yesterday afternoon or sometime today.  No pictures, sorry.  I didn't have my camera.  Picture a little cream fluffy pup with a darker cream color ears and mixed in her light cream fur.  A petite, pointy little black nose, the most adorable blackest pads on her feet and purple spots on her tongue.  Cute, cute, cute!

Glad to hear she's doing better!

It WOULD be nice to think this was done out of ignorance rather than malice, but then what was she doing in the woods?

What are you guys calling her?
