Yes indeed, I do have lucky dogs!!

George looooves venison and the little piggy he is, he polished off a pile of ribs Friday night, then proceeded to gorge himself with lamb ribs yesterday.  Jillian isn't too fond of venison, but, she enjoys a good venison bone now and then.

Lucky dogs and lucky you. I love venison. Deer season here opened in September but it's hard to find. Those red necks keep everything to themselves. hand

I never liked venison. Only one time I had a roast and it was good, other than that.. pukey tasting.

Glad the dogs like it!

Reminds me.. we had gotten some venison from friends of ours.. I made it with a tomato sauce/ like / pepper steak. eww.. it was so nasty.. even Drifter stuck his nose up at it. He wouldn't touch it!! (Lab/Setter) Either my cooking or the meat.. but it turned me off of it for good.

Same here, I do not hunt, hubby does not hunt but some of his friends do and guess what we get... nuffing. No, I am lying, we got some duck a couple of years ago and somebody asked me if I wanted ground deer.... whaaaat ? This is anathema, you do not grind venison in my book, you give it to me in roast, ribs, stew meat, whatever but you do not grind it.

To go back to Jillian and George (how do we get derailed this easily ?), they are lucky dogs indeed. They eat stuff I'd like to eat (well not the tracheas).

I can buy New Zealand farm raised deer here. But would love for Kiva and Kaden to get to gnaw on a deer bone or have freshly processed meat. The deer herds in Texas are so large many counties consider them a dangerous nuisance. So. Where's the deer?

I looove venison.  I'm having venison stew for lunch today  drool

I have, though, Terri, had venison that wasn't prepared very well.  It is far leaner than beef and can be gamey if you're not careful.

Layne, if I score more venison, I'll send some down to you.
