I'm a bad mom for not getting you all pictures sooner.  MM, thanks for posting them.

Miss Mabel's last year has been filled with trials.  She has lost her coat a couple of times and we had to back up and regroup.  With lots of help and advice from Gail and MM we are finally on the right track.

Mabel has turned into a real daddy's girl and is glued to Mark.  I no longer have couch privileges when she is in the room.  She has to snuggle up right next to her dad and get rubbed.  The two of them together make me laugh everyday.  Mark makes her breakfast and gives her meds every morning and I get the evenings and snacks in between.  As you can see, he overfed her quite a bit while I was gone and she is a bit portly.  It just makes her that much more huggable though and I can't keep my hands off of her.  Now when I put her bowl down in the evenings, she looks at me like "You're kidding right?  That's not ALL I'm having for dinner!"  She is pretty hard to resist.

Mabel has been wonderful to have here especially with new pups.  She is a wonderful nanny and teacher.  She has so much fun fussing at them and playing with them I try to have a new pup for her every few weeks.  She would have been an awesome Mommy but since that is not possible, I get her some surrogates from time to time.  She seems to enjoy having them around and there is never a shortage of little ones in need.  She also had a boyfriend for a few weeks over the summer.

The shelter called me.  They had gotten in another Bloodhound.  I must have sucker on my face.  I went and met him on Wednesday and I could not sleep until I went back and picked him up Friday.  I think I drove poor MM crazy talking about this boy.  He was wonderful and Mabel loved him.  The two of them were instant friends.  He found a home in Clearwater a couple of weeks later and has gained 45 pounds and is undergoing HW treatment.  He was a real keeper.  You will see in the pics that this was also during the time we were struggling with allergies and trying to keep a coat on Mabel.  I think we have it whipped finally, but she was not very attractive for about 6 weeks.

Thanks everyone for your lovely thoughts, prayers and help when we needed it.  Without you this sweet dog would not be as happy and healthy as she is today.

Love and Hugs,

Anna and Mabel

Glad to hear Baloo is doing great, and putting on weight! Though that isn't his name now, is it Duke?

That shot of him and Mabel nose to nose is one of my very favorites!

No, they ended up settling on Fred. head scratch  It fits him too.  He was a laid back country boy.  He is such a sweetheart.  I miss him.

I had no idea about Mabel, so went and read about her. OMG, That poor girl, how heartbreaking the things she went through. It is nice to know that she is loved and taken care of now, and that she never will have to go through that again. Wonderful story about a wonderful dog. luvsmile
