It may take them a couple of days, but the wheels are in motion for Southeast Bloodhound Rescue to take him. First they have to get a court order to release him. My friend Anna, who visits that shelter in Dothan several times a week, is the one that "prescribed" treatment for sarcops for him, but she is an in-the-trenches kind of girl, and her guess is as good as any kennel worker's. First stop for this boy will be Wetumpka, 8-dog-Emily's home town. Then I'm sure he'll be in foster care for quite a while. What a relief. Kat, you're off the hook for the moment! Alyssa, I gave you a warning, I addressed it to Kat!  |

Alyssa, I gave you a warning, I addressed it to Kat! ???? Kat = mangey dog? She said in her earlier post she wished for a warning on the picture......I figured I kind of warned anybody by putting your name in the title....you know, view at your own risk???? Anyway, I've got a couple more pictures....he was actually jumping up towards Anna, like he wanted to go with her. She said it was just horrible leaving him there. |

I'd be kind of surprised if they let him go before the court case. We have to hold onto "police hold" animals till the case is resolved. That's out here, anyway.

It should be apparent to even a blind judge that he needs special care, and the Dothan shelter is not a real high tech place. I would think they can at least get him released to a qualified rescue group.
Anna works closely with this shelter, and plans to take him to her vet as soon as she can. And my friend Molly, whose breed is bloodhounds, saw the picture, and suspects it may be yeast, not mange.

He's in the public animal control shelter in Dothan, Alabama. He's physically safe, and has food and shelter.

Like Kat, I believe that his non-treatment is abuse. I haven't heard the whole story yet, I don't know any extenuating circumstances. But there are at least three visible problems---his skin, his bleeding injuries, and his weight. If his weight was good, one could argue he has a bad skin problem. If he was thin, one could argue he had digestive or thyroid issues that kept him from holding weight. But with all these rolled together.....the dog has not been cared for humanely.
And I daresay he'll turn up hw+ too.

With those three issues, clearly inhumane treatment. Thank goodness he's out of that situation and will be given a chance to get well. Poor guy!
