  Hey Terri, I have had an Icon for DA. That looked like a paw print for a good while now and all of a sudden it
looks like a small Rottie's head..  Your doings? or did i just get lucky ?

Puppy Dog Icons

I have noticed the correct Puppy Icon doesnt always show up to show new Post or No new Posts.

Do you guys have to go in and change those, or is the system doing it automatically????

Cant reply to a thread

Hi, I was trying to reply in the tongue pic thread, I would hit reply, type my message and add 4 attatchments. I did it a few times and I keep getting this message. But when I hit post, the subject and message were there. I thought maybe I was taking too long, so I did it really quick, but same thing. Help please!!

I was wondering, when I see that a thread is new and I go into it, is there any indication that tells me which posts are new (obviously they're the bottom posts, but just want to know where to start reading it).  Thanks!

You know,,,since a few weeks ago, everytime I get on DA I get a message asking me if I want to debug.... I tried to fix it,,thought I had it but it comes up every time I'm here and occasionally if I open a website somewhere. BUT no doubt something is not working properly between my computer and D A. I do know those links worked on a couple other forums that I put them on.   

Advertising and Websites?

We have a specific section on the board called Member Websites found here where our members with at least 150 posts may post their websites or other websites that may advertise various dog services or other personal interests.  You are welcome to have your website in your profile, but it may not be displayed in your posts, sig file or other interactions on DA.  All websites are also subject to DA approval when 150 posts has been reached and you have been a contributing member in good standing for 6 months.  Please refrain from having any offensive material in your websites.

Different Emotes?

I'm really, really not the sharpest crayon in the box when it comes to the computer but I'm not THAT dull either.  Where do you all find the different smilies/emotes to add to some of your posts?  I've tried to figure it out but my brain ain't gettin' it.  Thanks for the help.

Emailing Links

Hi, sometimes when I send DH a link via email he can click right on it and read the thread. Other times it say says he has to sign in. Is there any reason?Thanks.

I always click on the link 'show unread posts since last visit' (located beside my avatar). I've noticed that it hasn't been working the last couple of days. Did something change or is just me!?

What is that little icon off to the right on my posts? It looks like a pencil on a piece of paper. I am always afraid to click on it fearing it will delete my carefully thought out, grammatically sound, politically correct  posts.

Question about my avatar

Ok, so my avatar is supposed to change pictures every few seconds to a different character from Wicked.  But when I saved it to my pictures and uploaded it, it is only stuck on Glinda.  So how can I get it so that the picture changes? Any help would be appreciated.

Home page?

Is there a link to the Dog Addicts home page somewhere on the forums?  I like to check out the home page every now and then and was wondering if there were a link rather than typing in www.dogaddicts.com every time I want to check it out.  Its no big deal, I just tend to be lazy 

Reducing red eye w/ Microsoft Photo Editor?

I have this pic that I would like to use as my avatar pic, but I don't know how to reduce red eye (or get a drawing tool I could use to black over parts of it) in Microsoft Photo Editor.  I don't have any other editting software on my computer.  (which, BTW, is fine now.  As it turns out, it was overheating because there was dog hair stuck in the fan which had thought I got out in a previous cleaning but didn't.  The dog hair strikes back. )

ETA: Oh, well, I guess now that I look at it the red eye isn't too bad.  I'm going to go ahead and put that up as my avatar, but if anyone knows how to reduce/get rid of red eye, I'm still curious and I'm sure there are others that are, too.

HELP HELP HELP

Does anyone know why everytime I get on to Dog Addicts the past couple of days I have to sign my user and password?  I haven't changed a thing.  I figured yesterday when it happened that maybe I had cleaned out something and it took it out of my profile,,,and I redid all that, AND then checked it.  I also was able to get into THAT OTHER DOG BOARD and my name/password was still in it,,,and usually if I do something I have to reset both of them.    But I checked everything out, and posted yesterday and went to sign on to DA this morning and I am a guest again.     
Gee this is a lot on me to keep looking up my user names and passwords, since everyone is different on anything I signed up for.
Is this happening to anyone else? Or am I unofficially NOT a Dog Addict anymore??????

Well now I went and did it....
I wanted to post a whole bunch of pics of Zirc and Sophia and work.
Sicne I can only post four pics at a time and wanted to write some text along with it I thought I would be clever and lock the topic. I assumed as the author I could unlock it when I was ready to post the next batch.
HAHA I can't unlock it.
But I can't report it to the mods either, since the forum does recognize that I am the author!!!
 

Why can't I see people's profiles?

I've never seen this on any other forum, but do I have to be a member a certain amount of time before I can view profiles?

server cannot be found

did it again to me today .  I'm at work.  I just got connected to D/A now!  grrrrr.

The last 2 days i've been at insurance classes ugh~ for 10 hours so i don't know how it was working yesterday.

trying to post Player file

Trying to post one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time and getting the "file is too large" message. It's a Windows Media Player file, saved to my desktop, and it's 2.75 MB. Any way I can post it?

Had a scare yesterday

I was hoping to see a topic about this but i don't so i'll start one.

Yesterday at work this whole server was down for me for around 2 hours.  Was it just me?  I couldn't get to Dog addicts at all~ told me that dreaded message~ Server cannot be found.

What it made me realize is i don't have one person from here in my regular e-mail address book.  Whenever i needed to e-mail someone i just went from here and did it.  I think i better save at least one person from here in my regular address book so I don't end up in La La land someday.

I was wondering if anyone had noticed a ad on this website for "amishpuppies.com"? The reason I ask is I was doing a search on the Amish people in general. I came across quite a few advocacy groups stating that the Amish are notorious for neglect as well as puppy mills. I found a lot of information on the web regarding the website as well. I found it odd that it would be advertised on this site.

How do you change your avatar pic?

 Is there a way to change your avatar pic?  I went into edit profile etc but I don't see how to take the old avatar out?

 It doesn't happen often but it happened again this morning so I thought i'd ask.  Sometimes when you hit on threads there's no reply button.  That's what happened this morning when i tried to reply to Ariana's thread about the Amityville horror movie out.  I tried refreshing but still no button.  Now i go into another thread and the reply button is there?

time change

How do i get the right time?  Our time changed here to an  hour later~ eastern standard time and whatever i try just seems to make the timer earlier instead of later for me.   

How do I get right to the unread messages and posts

If you would like to start at the unread posts or replies to your posts this is what you can do.

First, when you log in to Dogaddicts, select forever as your time.



That will set the cookie so that whenever you come to dogaddicts.com, you will be logged in.

Now, instead of going right to the forum go to the home page, which is http://dogaddicts.com

Right under the sentence        What's happening in the forum...

you will see the 3 links

How do I search

Answer:

There are two ways.

1.  To search the internet, on each page you are on there is a google search bar near the top of the page.
You can use that to search anything through Google.  For example, if someone posts about a product or a illness or whatever, you can search it right from that page.

2.  To search DogAddicts, on the menu bar there is a "search" button.  Use that button to search Dogaddicts only.

How do I change the way the forum "looks"

Answer:

There are a few ways to change the look.

If you want to view text only, go here:  http://dogaddicts.com/smf/index.php?imode



If you want to change the whole forum look, select the "profile" button that is near the top of this page.



On the left hand side of your profile page, there will be a modify profile menu.

Select look and layout.  At the top you wiill see    Current Theme: Forum or Board Default (change)

Select change.  There will be a few different options.  You can always change it back to fourm default.

How do I add an avatar

Under edit your profile.
Select Forum Profile Information
Select I will enter my own pic.
Then click Browse, find your picture and select it.

How do I report an objectionable post

Answer:

At the bottom of each post (message) there is a "report to moderator" link.  Just click on that and follow the directions.

All moderators will get the message and someone will review and take action if needed.

Really you don't want to.  Each moderator has to give me $750.00 per week for me to allow them to be a moderator.

I made a goof.....the pics don't upload until you post, so you can't preview them.  Or is it just me?

Profiles

I'm new here and it will take a while to get aclimatized.
I clicked on a couple of people's profiles in a message and got an error message saying, "You can just view anyone's profile"
Does this mean they have blocked their profile or is there an issue with my permissions?

Find the moderators

It'd be nice if there were a link on every page or at least the home page where you could message the monitors.  I know Lisa's here somewhere but I have to go find her.  It'd be nice to be able to find them quicker but maybe that'll come with time once I'm more familiar with this place
